We haven't even gotten the first issue yet, but here is the advance solicitation for The Savage Hawkman #3, courtesy of Newsarama:
THE SAVAGE HAWKMAN #3
Written by TONY S. DANIEL
Art and cover by PHILIP TAN
On sale NOVEMBER 23 * 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US * RATED T
Using his unique gift for deciphering alien symbols, Carter Hall learns the secrets knowledge of his new foe, Morphicius, even as his deadly power continues to grow! Unraveling this mystery is Hawkman's only chance to
defeat Morphicius before he becomes unstoppable.
Still hard to figure out exactly who or what Morphicus is from these covers, but that's the point so I am cool with that. Notice, however, the elements of Hawkgirl's helmet on Morphicus. A Thanagarian connection perhaps? Also, notice as well that Hawkman seems to be wielding a katar and claw weapon combination, much like he did in Volume 3.
Still totally digging on Tan's artwork. The chin of Hawkman's helmet may take some getting used to, but the harness and wings look excellent.
The first issue of The Savage Hawkman is scheduled to hit shops on September 28th; #3 is due in November.

I don't mean to take anything away from the Morphicus character, and I sincerely do hope that he emerges as a dangerous and charismatic villain. But do you notice, with his name, "Morphicus" ("morph"-"to change"), and his ability to acquire new characteristics, a certain similarity to Byth? Or perhaps he's a combination of Byth and Superman's foe, the Parasite?
Certainly a possibility. Given the fluid nature of the weapons we have seen Hawkman wield on the covers, I wonder if the alien technology itself is not morphological in nature (as opposed to, say, morphinominal, which would be a bold choice ;)).
