Panel From Justice League: Cry For Justice #2

An interesting panel from Justice League: Cry For Justice #2, where Green Lantern talks about how he never got along with Batman.  This is of interest primarily for Green Arrow's comment about how they supposedly got along worse than he and Hawkman, which I find hard to swallow.  But Hawkman is not in this miniseries and Green Lantern is, so I guess that's how it rolls.

What do you folks think?  Are Carter and Ollie still the classic bickering teammates of the Justice League?  Or does this new-fangled idea of Green Lantern and Batman overtake them?  You make the call!

I think it is a generational thing. Right now Geoff Johns is making the dynamic of Willpower vs Fear more prominent than politically ideals.

Also I think it is Hal Jordan vs Batman who are for better or worse top tier characters while Green Arrow and Hawkman are "B" level characters.

True, but Johns was also instrumental in re-injecting the hostility into Hawkman and GA's relationship as well. In their team up in the early days of volume 4 of Hawkman, they actually came to blows (well, sort of; Hawkman backhanded the taste out of Green Arrow's mouth).

I don't have a problem with Bats and GL not getting along -- in fact I like that kind of animosity bubbling under the surface in a group like the League. The old school Society, yeah, I think all of them were chums (well, 'cept The Spectre), but the League? No way.

I think Snowowl's on to something there with the whole Will vs. Fear thing that Geoff Johns is spreading.

And definitely the classic frienemies are Green Arrow and Hawkman.

Not at all, not at all. I can't stand this kind of thing. I don't necessarily want my heroes to always be the best of friends, but this kind of bickering and animosity is for lesser men. Real heroes are made of better stuff.

I like the teasing relationship between Arrow and Carter in the best days of the Satellite era. They were friends who didn't see eye to eye, but they were still friends. They may give each other a hard time, but when it comes down to it, they'll stand by one another. Kinda' like Cap and Hawkeye back in the day.

Green Arrow cried when Hawkman first left the League (sometime in the early 100s?) It's complex.
