The only one which stands out in my mind is the one which crossed over with Batman And The Outsiders. So... yeah. Still don't care that Pantha got hers.

Now, had Superboy Prime punched the head off of Technocrat...Lukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07352646370918575626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6863067557730775717.post-6673279695621049632012-09-07T05:04:17.761-04:002012-09-07T05:04:17.761-04:00God bless you sir! Pantha was my favorite character from the Jonathan Peterson-edited high water mark, if only for the literal laugh out loud line "Dick, you slut!"Diabolu Frankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04685199809207954223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6863067557730775717.post-54185190286467255192012-09-06T23:36:02.305-04:002012-09-06T23:36:02.305-04:00I think that "mo' gooder New Bloods"...I think that "mo' gooder New Bloods" is an extremely perilous distinction, but I can dig that. Pantha, though? Still wondering why I am supposed to care and/or feel bad that she ate it.

I didn't realize I had them both on; word verification should be disabled now. BOOOOO!!!!!!

By the way, because I'm in a mood over word verification mishaps tonight, combing it with comment moderation is like wearing a belt and suspenders.Diabolu Frankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04685199809207954223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6863067557730775717.post-78235992678076796972012-09-05T20:48:06.413-04:002012-09-05T20:48:06.413-04:00Mongrel is a character who screams to be put in hi...Mongrel is a character who screams to be put in his place by a character who had an actual difficult life. Dick Grayson, for instance, is a good candidate to floor him in One Punch.

To paraphrase Faulkner, he is full of adolescent sound and fury, signifying nothing. I am sure Ostrander intended him to be an "in your face" character meant to turn the mirror of intolerance on other characters, but he is such a ridiculous pile of cliches that it all falls apart.

Say what you will about Geoff Johns, but he did kill off Mongrel, so that's something we can all be proud of!Lukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07352646370918575626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6863067557730775717.post-16292175658231983802012-08-31T02:10:25.694-04:002012-08-31T02:10:25.694-04:00I haven't read this issue since 1993, but near...I haven't read this issue since 1993, but nearly twenty years later, I find you had the exact same reaction. I disliked Mongrel a great deal, and assumed he was going to be a bad guy. When he kept popping up as an anti-hero, I hated and resented him that much more. If opposing racism means embracing Mongrel, pass me a pointy hat with SPF-50000 sunshade. Just a wretched character; Ostrander's final "gift" to Hawkman fans on his way out the door.
